-
This program is suitable for students pursuing a PhD degree at a Canadian university in the field of machine learning (ML) or artificial intelligence (AI) during the 2023-24 academic year.
-
Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate strong research capabilities and present a sound research proposal for work related to their graduate degree.
-
The award will be administered to the winners by their university in the form of a stipend and either as one lump sum payment or in instalments at the university’s sole discretion.
-
Winners must submit a 2-to-5-page final report to Borealis AI that outlines how this award helped them advance their studies in the field of machine learning.
-
To be considered, you must have proof of continuous enrolment at a Canadian university between January 2024 and August 2024. You do not need to be enrolled in a Canadian graduate program at the time of the application, but you will be asked to provide proof of enrolment for the relevant academic year for the award to be administered. Borealis AI cannot guarantee admission to a Canadian graduate program, but the fellowship will be used to support your studies while you are attending.
-
Successful candidates may or may not have an established research record yet, depending on their year of study and how far along they are in their program. It is important that they demonstrate potential for future research work. This fellowship aims to give people more resources and opportunities to bring their research goals to fruition.
-
Successful candidates can come from any university across Canada and any visible minority or other diversity groups or underrepresented groups in AI. No more than two winners from the same university.
