Machine Learning Research Team Lead

What’s the opportunity?

Borealis AI is looking for a Research Team Lead. The role includes managing a team of researchers, and research engineers with the goal of delivering AI-based products for the financial services industry. In addition, you will lead initiatives that improve the effectiveness of the research organization.

Your responsibilities include:

• Leading a team of machine learning researchers and engineers delivering cutting edge AI technology to support AI-based products;
• Partnering with Borealis AI’s product and engineering teams to ensure the seamless delivery of these products;
• Managing other research team leads and provide guidance and support;
• Leading initiatives that improve the overall performance of the Borealis AI Research Team;
• Helping to recruit, mentor and retain a high-performing research team.

You're our ideal candidate if you have:

• Experience leading cross-functional machine learning research teams in product-centric environments;
• A track record of successful people management that includes both researchers and engineers;
• Involvement across the research and product development lifecycle, from prototyping to production, engaging with multiple stakeholders to develop solutions that meet business needs;
• Proficient in Python, data science tooling, and deep learning frameworks;
• Publication record in relevant top tier AI/ML conferences a plus;
• Experience with NLP, LLMs, or financial services domain a plus.
