What’s the opportunity?

As a UX Designer you’ll ideate, test, design and ship cutting edge AI products with a world-class scientific research and engineering team. You’ll help blaze trails in the design of AI-powered products, with a focus on making machine learning work for people. You will work closely with the business development, engineering, and research teams to deeply understand the problem space and define compelling products. 

You’ll be a key contributor to help us turn research into full-fledged products and will work closely with the business and leadership teams of Borealis AI to make difficult concepts real. 

At Borealis AI, you’ll be joining a team that works directly with leading researchers in machine learning. Our mission is to think big and go beyond what’s possible today to deliver competitive and amazing AI products.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Working with our business team, our product team, and our engineering team to understand business problem, user problem, and the art of the possible in AI;
  • Ideating and fleshing out ideas, with a focus on interaction design and prototyping, and collecting feedback;
  • Building prototypes, mock-ups and demos to support user research, to guide engineering, or to present to Borealis and RBC executives;
  • Running user research with support from the product team;
  • Synthesizing and sharing your findings across Borealis;
  • Helping us build an amazing product culture.
     

You’re our ideal candidate if you:

  • Have 3 to 5 years of experience in UX or Design;
  • Are continually curious and empathetic about customers and are driven to build great products;
  • Enjoy building and quickly iterating on design prototypes using HTML/JS or prototyping tools;
  • Enjoy talking to and learning from end users;
  • Enjoy organizing, running, and synthesizing the findings of user research (user studies);
  • Are great at collaborating across a spectrum of stakeholders, from business partners to researchers to engineers;
  • Have deep empathy for the user, and the ability to help others develop that empathy;
  • Have enthusiasm for learning about machine learning and AI (Bonus points if you have worked in this area).
