Alex LaPlante is passionate about building AI systems that solve complex, high-impact problems in large enterprises. As the Senior Director of Product and Business Development she leads Borealis' BD and PM teams, defines the company's long-term product strategy across all lines of business, and establishes key partnerships with RBC stakeholders. She also writes and speaks in a variety of forums about applications of AI in finance and the ethics surrounding them.
Before joining Borealis, Alex was the Managing Director of Research at the Global Risk Institute, where she led a diverse team of researchers studying emerging risks to the financial sector, ranging from new technologies like AI to climate change. She has also worked as a Director of Enterprise Analytics at CIBC. She holds a PhD in operations research from the University of Toronto.
